Our mother believed that cottage industries and village arts were important to the survival and strength of the Indonesian economy.
She felt that Indonesia produced handicrafts and implements of unparalleled beauty and utility.
Moreover Indonesian village entrepreneurs offer fine examples of connection and cooperation between peoples as well as the effective adaptation of tradition to meet contemporary challenges.
She knew that in a country the size of Indonesia, we must honor human resourcefulness and creation, and support microfinance and rural economies.
We are honored that her generous spirit and love for Indonesia is being recognized.
