Signholding/Leafleting at First Friday Art Walk
Friday evening, February 1st, 6:30-8:30 pm
Hotel and Bethel (next to Hawai`i Theatre)
There will be a chorus line of dancers at Hawai`i Theatre. There will be fireworks and lion dances. Thousands of people will be celebrating the year of the Golden Rat in Chinatown this Friday evening.
But this same week Attorney General Mukasey, while being questioned by the U.S. Senate, refused to say that waterboarding was either illegal or torture! Read his testimony at http://www.democracynow.org. And ask how you can be silent!!
Join us at the small park next to Hawai`i Theatre with banners and signs to say NO to torture. We’ll have orange ribbons and leaflets. We’ll have plenty of signs to hold — just be there! We know that parking will be crazy. There’s usually parking at Kukui Plaza all evening, but lots downtown fill up by 6:30 pm. Catching the bus is best — and the #1 will drop you off at the corner of Bethel & Hotel!
It’s up to us. We must show it or it doesn’t count. The world needs to see that the people of this country rise to say NO to torture. Torture is a crime against humanity. Torture is an impeachable offense, ordered by the White House and still being sanctioned by Congress. That Mukasey is able to stand in front of Senate and uphold torture is an outrage!
Wear Orange to Say NO to Torture. Spread Orange.
We Must Act Now – The Future Is In the Balance
The world can’t wait and it’s counting on You!
Drive Out the Bush Regime.
